Wechselbörse BBL 2009/2010

  • Josh Carter noch Oldenburg:

After keeping 10 players, the only burden that The EWE Baskets Oldenburg had besides resigning players was filling two empty spots with German Acha Njei and the final spot with Josh Carter (201-G/F-88)r. He is a 20 year old 201cm shooting guard/small forward that was born in Dallas, Texas and he was rewarded with a one year contract with an option. With the signing, the EWE Baskets Oldenburg had to say farewell to Jonathan Wallace and Mildan Pekovic.' Carter will be a BBL rookie, having played at Texas A b& M from 2005-2009. Even though, Oldenburg waited very long for this signing, they are happy that they could land Carter.'We had the luxury to wait very long, because we had many candidiates for this position and we were thinking of keeping Pekovic. Everything that we saw and heard about Carter, we are happy that we could sign him. He is very athletic and has a good shot', stressed Oldenburg manager Hermann Schueller.

Coach Predrag Krunic is happy that they decided to wait so long and sign Carter. 'A week before traing camp, we have the roster completed which is a good situation. We were looking for aplayer like Josh. He is flexable at the 2-3 positions and gives us further options. This will be his first time in Europe and will need some time to adapt', stressed Predrag Krunic. In four years at Texas A & M, he played 135 games averaging 11,2ppg, 2,7rpg and 1,7apg.

    Bailey nach Ludwigsburg:

ENBW Ludwigsburg waited a long time, but were able to sign Kyle Bailey (188-G-82, college: Santa Clara) for the 2009-2010 BBL season. The 27 year old188cm point guard will play his fourth season in Germany after having played fro Ratiopharm Ulm and two seasons with Goettingen. Bailey is a very smart player who handles the ball well , performs well under pressure and regularly is the first player at practice and the last to leave which says a lot for his work ethic. Last season, he led Goettingen into first place of the BBL standings and the team kept itself there for weeks. In the down stretch, he injured himself and had to miss the playoff series loss to the Brose Baskets Bamberg, but still managed to play 23 games averaging14.4ppg, 4.3rpg, 3.3apg, 1.2spg, FGP: 43.5%, 3PT: 32.1%, FT: 74.2%. As most teams have nearly completed their rosters, it seemed like Bailey had been forgotten, but Turk coach Tolga Ongoren had not. 'Kyle is a very effective player that knows how to lead a team. He had a great season in Goettingen and has a lot of BBL experience. We believe in his leadership and want to play a quick and attractive basketball with him', stressed Ludwigsburg coach Tolga Ongoren .

Bailey comes from Alaska and grew up in Fairbanks. He played college ball at Santa Clara in California from 2000-2005. His best season was his senior year as he played 31 games averaging 14.8ppg, 4.7rpg, 4.2apg, 1.5spg, FGP: 37.2%, 3Pts: 31.3%. He turned pro in 2005 and started his professional basketball career in the NBDL league with the Florida Flame, but left and got an offer in Europe from BK Riga 05 in the Latvian league, but left in Feb 06 and played only 2 games averaging 17.5ppg 6.5rpg 5.0apg 1.5spg. In the 2006-2007 season was his first in Germany with BG Goettingen as he helped the team win the second bundesliga north playing 29 games and averaging 20.8ppg, 5.7rpg, 3.0apg, 2.8spg, 2FGP: 48.1%, 3FGP: 35.9%, FT: 77.0%. John Allen bleibt in Braunschweig:

Even though Strassburg, France is only about five hours from his former team Braunschweig, it seemed like John Allen (196-G/F-82, agency: Court Side, college: Seton Hall) got a little homesick and decided to return back to The New York Phantoms as he recieved a one year contract for the 2009-2010 BBL season. Allen is a 26 year old 196 cm shooting guard/small forward that had played for the New York Phantoms Braunschweig in 2007-2008 and quickly became a crowd favorite as he played 34 games averaging 13.2ppg, 4.2rpg, 3.7apg, 1.4spg, 2FGP: 47.4%, 3PT: 28.3%, FT: 75.4%. It seemed like Braunschweig management was sad back in the summer of 2008 as Allen left for Strassburg, but all the work it took in regaining the servces of the American seemed to have payed off as they were able to get him back.' John was our absolute wish player. He is an identification figure and we really worked hard and long in getting him. We are happy that it worked', stated Braunschweig sports director Oliver Braun. Last season in France with SIG Strassburg, his stats dipped a bit as he played 31 games averaging 8.5ppg, 3.7rpg, 2.6apg, 1.0spg, FGP: 45.9%, 3PT: 30.6%, FT: 84.7%. Despite the dip in production, coach Sebastian Machowski is content that Allen can lead the team. 'He is a complete player. He has shown in the past that he can lead a team and take control in crunch time. He is an important building block in our concept and he will help us with his experience', stressed Braunschweig skipper Sebastian Machowski (agency: Limelight Hoops )

Allen grew up in Coatesville, Pennslyvania and went to Seton Hall from 2001-2005. In his senior year, he played 28 games averaging 11.5ppg, 4.9rpg, 2.6apg, 1.2spg, FGP: 40.3%, 3Pts: 34%. In 2006-2007, he moved to Isarel to play for Maccabi Ironi Ramat Gan playing 27 games and averaging 15.3ppg, 4.5rpg, 2.8apg, 1.1spg, 2FGP: 50.0%, 3PT: 46.3%, FT: 81.5%. John Allen came back to Braunschweig for one major reason. 'I wanted to come back to win. My goal is to make the playoffs and then see what happens.I heard good things about the coach so I am excited to play for him', stated John Allen.
